Maciej Gladysz takes E3 Spanish Winter Championship title after dramatic Season Finale

The E3 Spanish Winter Championship has come to the end of its debut season with the best possible finale: uncertainty right up until the last race.

Young Polish driver Maciej Gladysz ultimately claimed the title in a memorable Motorland event, where a win and a second-place finish — combined with a double zero from his main rival Mattia Colnaghi — secured the crown for the KCL by MP Motorsport driver.

The Italian, who had been leading the standings comfortably before the final event, saw his weekend take a turn for the worse from the very first race. While battling for the top 5, a driving error during a fight with Ernesto Rivera took both of them out of contention.

On Sunday, with his title hopes still alive, a disastrous qualifying session left him with no time on the board, forcing him to start from the back of the grid. Despite a strong comeback that brought him close to the points, his rivals’ results made it impossible for him to stay in the title fight until the end.

A noteworthy performance also came from James Egozi, who took his second win in the category. If not for a penalty that dropped him to tenth in Race 1, he might have been a surprise contender for the title.

Ernesto Rivera, meanwhile, made his debut in the series with two fifth-place finishes, positioning himself as one to watch for the regular season. Luciano Morano, Adam Hideg, Preston Lambert, and debutant Yani Stevenheydens also scored their first points in the championship, wrapping up an exciting Spanish Winter Championship in Alcañiz.

In the end, Maciej Gladysz takes home both the drivers’ and best rookie titles, with Mattia Colnaghi finishing as runner-up and James Egozi completing the overall podium. MP Motorsport claimed the teams’ championship title.
